Musical Goals

  1. To be able to share my work with others, enabling me to hear constructive criticism and improve my confidence. Hearing constructive criticism will allow me to hear ways I can improve my work that I may not have thought about before. This will further improve my work. I can begin to do this by showing family members to begin with to slowly build my confidence.
  2. To learn about musical harmony. This will help the music that I write to be enjoyable to the listener. This is important because if the music is not enjoyable to listen to, it is not able to serve its purpose.
  3. To learn how to read and write music. This is important as it will allow me to see how other songs are composed and be able to think about why it works. This will then allow me to use this knowledge to help me when writing my own songs. I can learn this by slowly researching where notes are written and what different symbols mean. If I learn this slowly, it will be easier to learn as I can focus on remembering one or two symbols and notes at a time, making it harder to forget.
  4. To practise and work regularly.
  5. To be able to use a piece of software (e.g. Garageband) to write a song that I am proud of. This is important because it will allow me to write a song with instruments that I do not own and/or do not know how to play well. This is helpful because I do not own many instruments and do not know how to play most instruments and it will allow me to still work at home.
