Over the term, I have learnt how to read basic sheet music. I can read notes on the left hand and right hand for the piano (left hand CBAGF and right hand CDEFG). I know the symbols for one beat, two beats, three beats, four beats, half beat and one beat rest.
I have also written a song, however, I dislike a lot of it. There are a few elements of the song I do like but most I do not. I will most likely spend time at home rewriting everything. I will have to spend more time outside of lesson working on the song as I have a lot I want to change but not long to complete it.
I have not practised regularly over this term because I do not have easy access to the instruments needed. This has limited my progress this term as I have to rely on remembering how to play songs by reading the sheet music and playing it once a week. This is not as reliable as practising more regularly.
I have not improved my confidence in sharing my work with others much because I have not shared my work with others in the group until the last lesson this term. I hope to be able to share more often next term. I will begin this by sharing my work with a some of the other students in the group. I will not start with sharing it with everyone because this will make me more nervous.
I have not yet learnt musical harmony and I am currently relying on my ears to determine whether notes and chords clash. While this has worked decently for me so far, I should not rely on it alone. This is because sometimes I can tell that parts of my song clash but I can not determine what part of it does and how to fix it.
